About

I have two goals in this blog: (1) to provide relatively objective critiques of popular media reports on schizophrenia/psychosis research (including the work of journalists like Robert Whitaker) and (2) to provide summaries and access to the fulltext of recent research of interest to patients/service users/’consumers’/family members.

Who am I?  A psychology PhD student (diagnosed with schizophrenia) with personal and research interests in many aspects of schizophrenia/psychosis.

Check out my philosophy-of-psychosis blog here and contact me at ruminationsonmadness[at]gmail[dot]com.

[Finally, if anyone has suggestions (as to what they’d like me to cover), would like a copy of an article they don’t have access to, etc. please don’t hesitate to email me.]

You may want to evaluate recently published WHITE COAT BLACK HAT: ADVENTURES ON THE DARK SIDE OF MEDICINE by Carl Elliot. It has been compared to OVERDOSED AMERICA by John Abramson. I am not particularly convinced that it sheds more light than heat, but I imagine time will tell.
